New Designer: Xiao Li

I was skimming through RCFA's blog, when I came across a new London-based designer called Xiao Li. So I did some online research and apparently, the designer's collection was shown at the Royal College of Art fashion show last June.

Xiao Li is a 2010 Royal College of Art graduate. She has interned at Central Saint Martins College of Art Innovation Fashion Lab, Gareth Pugh Studio and Alexander McQueen. She has won a couple of prestigous awards, which you can find out more about here.

Inspired by modern architecture and 60s Balenciaga, the designer used a soft candy-colored palette for her latest collection to highlight the large thick sleeved jumpers and crochet neck detailing. I instantly mesmerized by her ability to present knitwear in a very modern, quirky-cool, and innovative way. Yes her designs might not be the most flattering, and I'd probably look like a balloon/super-sized cotton candy if I ever wear those pieces, but honestly I don't care! I'm totally hooked and I could just imagine myself wearing her oversized yellow jumper with my favorit skinny and cropped pants.
