Sicilian Sunnies

This summer, the ad campaigns of Dolce and Gabbana, featured these beautiful sunglasses decorated with ceramic flowers at the corners. I thought to myself, we won't be seeing those in K-town! But to my surprise, I found them right there starting back at me at Eye Boutique, which is located at the Avenues and 360 Mall. Needless to say that I instantly fell in love.

The sunglasses came in three styles. Each pair of sunglasses has exquisite multi-coloured roses, apparently the favorite flower of Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, adorning each frame and temple. Each petal has been molded and applied by hand with such exquisite craftsmanship.

I'm still contemplating on which one to get. In any case, these will surely be a pair of shades you won’t go unnoticed in this summer!

Exclusive: Summer Fun with Fyunka

Jeddah-based fashion accessories brand Fyunkacreated by Alaa Balkhy, unveiled her new summer collection of PVC and canvas bags. I find her illustrations to be fun and amusing, they're are influenced by pop culture and inspired by Middle Eastern insights. I think they add a certain charm and effortless cool yet quirky style to caftans and off-duty looks.

Featured here, exclusively to Confashions from Kuwait, are Fyunka's beautifully shot summer campaign.

In the News: Tokidoki x Karl Lagerfeld

Net-a-Porter will be exclusively launching the Tokidoki x Karl Lagerfeld capsule collection. Available from July 1, 2013, the collection will be sold exclusively online at Net-a-Porter and the Karl Lagerfeld concept stores in Berlin, Amsterdam and Paris and comprises of three look-a-like character dolls and a ready-to-wear collection.

These are a few of my favorite things: Edition

Today's sale browsing is dedicated to those who are on the lookout for directional pieces and those who don't like to shop the mainstream retailers, we're sale-scanning the progressive high-end retailer LN-CC. Most of their clothes are edgy and fashion-forward,. Unfortunately though, such pieces come with prices that knock you back to the ground. That said, whatever you love is sure not to last long, so shop quick! And the best part is that they're having FREE WORLDWIDE DELIVERY which ends 07/07/2013. And here are my favorite picks:
  • Oh Sacai, how I thee! One of my favorite brands is on sale! What can I ask for more?! These rear pleated shorts in khaki are something I'd wear for years to come.
  • Junya Watanabe mesh-toe shoes from in cobalt blue, to pair with skirts and cropped pants.

From left Haider Ackermann Boom heels in black and Toga's striped velvet heels, can't have enough of shoes!

From left, Rick Owens blouson top in taupe and Pedro Lourenco multi panel architecture jacket from in multicolour.

And last but not least, Pedro Lourenco asymmetric panel pencil skirt in multicolour, and Lucas Nascimento sheer degrade skirt in navy.

My Favorite Net-a-Porter Sale Purchase... So far

They're here!! Altuzarra smooth leather gladiator sandals embellished with beaded leaf appliqués, and designed in collaboration with Gianvitto Rossi. They'd been on my Net-a-Porter's wish list forever! (ok! 3 months but it felt forever) and when they announced their international sale, well - I couldn't exactly just leave them there, languishing on my wish list, could I...?

My sisters thought they were too daring and impractical, but as a life long member of S.A. (Shoe-a-holics Anonymous) I tend to take my footwear absurdly serious and sometimes "practical" is not good enough as an excuse for not buying a pair I'm lusting for. Anyways, I can't wait to do an Outfit of the Day post with these new babies.

These are a few of my favorite things: Edition

Today's sale browsing edition is the online luxury giant Net-a-Porter. And here are some of my favorite pieces which are currently on sale. I had to narrow down my selection to this so that I don't bore on with all of the items on my wish list! Let's start with the outfits shown above, shall we?

-From left to right: Michael van der Ham's silk-blend multi-print dress, what I love about it is that it looks as if you're layering 3 or 4 pieces when actually it's a one dress! genius.

-Lanvin's flared godet skirt, the shape is TDF! And the color is classic, what can I ask for more?!

-I love this combo! A striped Preen silk crepe de chine blouse matched with a floral pencil skirt also by Preen.

And now to the separates...

-Alaïa's red suede sandals with pretty mirrored petals, Alaïa's accessoires are always a wise investment.
-Isabel Marant's Godart embroidered cropped skinny jeans, the optimum of casual cool.
-Simone Rocha neon embroidered organza skirt, to add a pop of color to your wardrobe.
-Another flared skirt to fall in love with thanks to Vika Gazinskaya.
-You're da bomb! Well actually this clutch inspired by a perfume bottle not a bomb, anyways this Lanvin number is sure to turn heads.
- A colorful, playful, and fun clutch by Dolce and Gabbana.

More Necklaces by Ek Thongprasert

I've said it a zillion time before and I'll say it again, I can't seem to have enough of Ek Thongprasert necklaces! Everytime I convince myself that I'm over them, and then I end up buying one more! This is cray cray! I have already ordered one from Moda Operandi and waiting for it to be shipped. And just a few days ago I spotted new selection at Boutique N. I was thiiiis close to buy both the rose pink studded necklace and the mint green one too (shown below and above). Intricately crafted silicone shapes in pretty candy colors, how could I possibly resist?!! But right there and then the sales lady showsed me another design colored in mint green and mixed with copperish details and THAT stopped me in my tracks! Unfortunately I was too excited about it that I forgot to take a photo of it, but I will share it with you in one of my Outfit of the Day posts or instagram. I was like THIS IS IT!!! I WANT IT! And I got it.

These are a few of my favorite things: Edition

Today's sale browsing edition is sale. And here are some of my favorite pieces which are currently on sale. I have added the price of the item after the sale next to each piece for easier reference.
  • 3.1 Phillip Lim floral eyelet embellished t-shirt. I have the same tee and now I wish I waited for the sale to buy it! Anyhow, the embellishment on the tee is really cool and the tee can easily be paired with skirts and jeans.
  • Hudson ultra ripped hih-rise skinny jeans, I'm having a ripped and distressed jeans moment these days. Perfect for off-duty outings.
  • Mary Katrantzou X CURRENT/ELLIOTT’s sleeveless denim shirt, this piece is the epitome of dress-down high-fashion, wear it with a tank top and white cropped jeans or bermuda shorts and pile on the accessories.
  • Issa's Warhol print cotton slim leg pants, the quirky cool prints of these pants are killing me! Andy Warhol's cartoonish face all over!
  • Mother of Pearl flower stripe tank dress, florals and stripes? two of my favorite things combined in one item! LOVE!
  • Carven safari print poplin full skirt, you an paired it with its matching top, with a basic grey tee, or even a white shirt.
  • Acne stace degrade denim jacket, the coolest denim jacket of the season.

Blue Butterfly Boutique

Last week I was invited to the soft-opening of a multi-brand boutique Blue Butterfly. The clean and minimalist interior of this little gem, tucked away in the basement of Burj Jassim in Kuwait City, stocks  several of under-the-radar international designers such as Russian brand Alexander Kondakov, Turkish brand Boz Sister and Italian brand Benedetta Bruzziches to name a few, which offer an edgy spin on the basics. In addition to that, the boutique also carries a pretty selection of caftans and pieces designed by local talents such as bynouma and Simply M. Take a quick virtual tour of the boutique and some of the items on display by scrolling down.

Exclusive: Watch Emporio Armani SS14 Menswear Show Live from Milan on Confashions

I am thrilled to announce that Emporio Armani has selected Confashions from Kuwait to exclusively live stream its Spring/Summer 2014 Menswear show live on Confashions. The Emporio Armani fashion show should start at 10:30AM CET, that's 11:30AM in Kuwait and 12:30PM in UAE. So stay tuned and watch this post!

I have been recently contacted by two lovely Kuwaiti jewelry designers Latifa and Dana Al Bader who wanted to introduce me to their jewelry brand called Daimanti, which means diamond in Italian. They have established the brand almost a year ago with the aim of providing special everyday contemporary classic pieces to be worn by the uber-chic girl. I like how each design looks so delicate and dainty, which makes them perfect to wear alone or paired with a zillion other piece. My favorite has to be the X and O rings featured in this post.

Outfit of the Day

I'm cheating I know, this is supposed to be a proper Outfit of the Day post but I couldn't be bothered to move or get off the couch. I had just came back from work and lay on my couch with my camera on my side. So forgive my lazy shot.

I bought this outfit from Nass boutique (minus the clutch) a few weeks ago. I especially loved the printed skirt with peplum detail and a side-slit. It's designed by Lublu by Kira Plastinina, a Russian designer who's making it big in the fashion industry. Actually, her fall campaign was shot by THE street style photographer Tommy Ton and featured everyone’s favorite streets style darlings like The Man Repeller, Miroslava Duma, and Nasiba Adilova. Anyhow, I paired it with my striped top by A piece Apart, my super comfy shoes, and my Marni clutch.

The Chicest Swimsuit Around

This has to be the most glamourous and chicest swimsuit I have ever seen! Zimmerman's silver-trimmed swimsuit with contrasting floral prints looks like as if it has been designed in the 50's, inspired by the likes of Esther Williams and Marilyn Monroe. I like the fact that you can match it up with a pair of boardshorts. These would definitely be my retro-chic vacation choice. I guess it’s never too late to plan that vacation, you know.

These are a few of my favorite things: Edition

If you are overwhelmed with all the fabulous designer clothes and accessoires on sale now a days then this might be a good start of. I have decided to scan the sale section of my favorite online and offline boutiques and share with you my some of my favorite picks and previous purchases. Today's edition is sale
  • Aquazzura lace-up sandals, a timeless style and in exotic skin? I can see myself wearing them for years to come
  • A leather jacket with a twist? Try this Thu Thu Leather sleeve embroidered jacket
  • Now here's a directional piece that can be worn throughout the year, a Dion Lee thermal linear-spiral skirt
  • How about you celebrate unique prints with these Sidney jacquard trousers by Erdem
  • Get a piece of the Man Repeller's style with Aurélie Bidermann's Red District lip shocker bracelet. The weird thing is that it WAS on sale but for some reason now it's not
  • A girl has to have red shoes, this season in addition to my Gianvito Rossi's I'll be adding these Belucci Dolce & Gabbana raffia sandals
  • Bring an exotic feel to a classic clutch with this floral embroidered version by Lizzie Fortunato
  • This is not just another forla skirt! You have to click on the link to see how this Sophie Hulme floral skirt looks like on the model, I think it's the see-through paneling that got me
  • Gotta have me some hologram without major damage to my credit card, and these Opening Ceremony metallic sandals look like a safe option for the summer
  • Loving the intricate fish-wire hem on this Alexander Wang form-fitting leather skirt

If you have already shopped the great sale, share with me what you have bought!

Outfit of the Day / Kuwait's MoMA

This was supposed to be an Outfit of the Day post, but then I was too mesmerized by the beauty and creativity surrounding me, that I forgot to take close-up shots of my outfit and settled for showcasing this beauty found at Kuwait's Museum of Modern Art. I have first visited it in 2007 and then again in 2011 (previous posts here and here). Honestly I didn't expect to find new pieces added, but I was surprised to find this AMAZING huge mural in the museum's courtyard, which worked perfectly as a background for my below blogger pose. And then I bumped into the museum's curator who explained to me that this was a very recent project done by four Kuwaiti artists who completed the mural in less than a week. Unfortunately I can't remember their names, but when I find out who exactly, I'll update the post accordingly. Other painting and sculptures that I loved are shown below with details, they're not all necessarily new but they're definitely worth to be featured for their beauty.

As for my outfit, green khaki houlihan jeans by J Brand, navy cotton top (which I looooove cause it looks like a cape from the back but it's not) by Complex Geometrics from Boutique 4Marsèll sandals (barely shown in the photo when you scroll down, my blue mirror sunnies, and panama hat. Oh! and lots of arm party.

Check out the details of the mural! Amazing!! Wouldn't you say??!

This one's not new but I never get bored of, a bronze sculpture by Kuwaiti artist Sami Mohammed, done in 1978.

The 99 Names of Allah

The scream...

Syrian Artist Yousef Abd Laki, painted in 1999
