The Halo Effect

This word is overused, but OBSESSED with Balenciaga's Halo hairband the moment I saw it on my super stylish friend S. Balenciaga's models sported the metallic hairband, either embellished with silver, twig-like shapes or plain, worn not on top of their heads, but around the back. This hairband is miles away from the Blair's Upper East Side schoolgirl look. While I was in Dubai a few weeks ago, I spotted the one with side horns/twig like details as pictured in the above photo and the one on the left. It really felt like wearing something similar to what greek gods did, but with a modern twist. The one I tried on was priced around KD 600 more or less, so cray cray!

Anyhow, a few weeks later and during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia, I found out about this really cool Australian jewellery design label, Sarah & Sebastian by Sarah Gittoes and Robert Sebastian Grynkofki's. They began with the making of bespoke jewellery for friends and progressed into designing their own collection, which launched in September 2011. The design Duo recently collaborated with fashion designer Dion Lee to design special pieces for Dion Lee's SS 14 presentation, and one of their standout designs was this sterling silver hair trail, shown in the photo above on the right. I check their website and they didn't have it online, BUT they did have something  similar to it, check it out here.
