Moda Operandi’s exclusive punk collections for this year’s Met Ball and Costume Institute Exhibition. As you may already know, Moda Operandi is sponsoring the much-awaited Met Ball this year and many of the fashion world’s leading designers, Vivienne Westwood, Moschino, Givenchy, Charlotte Olympia, and Rodarte just to name a few, have designed punk-inspired collections to sell exclusively on Moda Operandi, in celebration of this years Costume Institute Exhibition, titled PUNK: CHAOS TO COUTURE.
The collection also includes one-of-a-kind customized clothing, plus rare vintage fashion and art objects that pay homage to punk, ranging from $100 to $13,000. I'd have to say that Givenchy's leather and lace long cape gets my vote for the best piece of the collection. I also loved Jennifer Behr's camellia beehive headband with floral veil.
In case you're planning to take a trip to New York, the PUNK: CHAOS TO COUTURE exhibition will be on view at The Metropolitan Museum of Art from May 9 – August 14, and it will focus on high fashion’s appropriation of punk’s avant-garde aesthetic.
Moda Operandi’s will also hold a Spotlight event in celebration of this year’s Costume Institute Benefit. The program, beginning May 7, will enable women to purchase select looks designed by Anthony Vacarello, Delpozo, Rodarte, and Wes Gordon, among others, and worn by celebrities to the event. The bold faced names wearing the designer gowns will be revealed when they walk the red carpet during arrivals.
