LFW: Mich Dulce and Piers Atkinson

A bunny head piece on a nurse hat?  Winged bow beret? Veiled visors? Somebody please call Anna Dello Russo!! I thought to myself as I approached this amazing corner of extravagant and unique hats during London Fashion Week, ADR would be in fashion headpieces heaven.

"Actually Vogue Nippon Editor Anna Dello Russo already owns one of the pieces shown her" expressed the cheerful designer Mich Dulce to me. The designer's hats collection have been worn by celebrities like music icon Adam Ant and Gossip Girl's Leighton Meester.

Mich Dulce is acclaimed as one of the most original and important Filipino visionaries in fashion today. She designed her S/S 2013 hats and headpieces collecting using T'nalak, a traditional fabric made of banana fiber handwoven by the women of T'boli Tribe in the Philippines. It is worth mentioning that the designer studied extensively at some of the world’s best fashion schools like Central Saint Martins, London College of Fashion, and the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York before launching her brand. And has won many international awards in recognition of her creativity and her commitment to socially conscious entrepreneurship.

I also came across another corner where they had extravagantly looking headpieces with cherries, lots of feathers, and botanical gardens on display and designed by Piers Atkinson.

Piers Atkinson is a London based artist, illustrator, milliner, costume designer, party organizer, fashion editor, and project manager (phew!!) who brings fun and imagination to his designs. His hats and headpieces can be seen on celebrities such as ADR (of course! The cherry hat!), Kate Moss, Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Kelis, Cate Blanchett and Paloma Faith.
