Furry Fendi

Yes I've been living under a rock the past month. And I'm sure you're tired of hearing my excuses. And you probably know the story behind my outdated post since Prestige, the new luxury extension of the Grand Avenue (previous post here), has opened weeks ago. So here goes nothing...

I finally managed to visit Prestige the other day and I was very impressed by the whole ambiance. And I'd say my favorite boutique at this new section so far has to be Fendi. I'm a huge fan of their shoes, the runway ones of course and not the monogrammed ones, they didn't have a big selection of runway shoes unfortunately. BUT my disappointed quickly turned into excitement when I saw the fur coats on display. I spent a good one hour marveling at their selection of furs. I had NO idea they were displaying three special not-for-sale iconic fur coats worn by the biggest celebrities in Hollywood. Take for example this Scanflow mink coat shown in the photo above. It is the same original coat worn by the queen of pop Madonna while filming Evita in 1996. It took 120 hours of workmanship to produce this coat. The coat has been borrowed from Madonna for the opening of Fendi Kuwait and will be returned back to her eventually. Isn't that super cool? The sales lady even let me try it on. Bad idea! The poor lady had a hard time trying to take it off from me! I kept stalling and walking around the store in it, as if I owned it! If only Madonna knew... tsk tsk tsk.

Scroll down to find out who else lent their coat to Kuwait's Fendi branch. And yes I tried them on as well.

Long weasel skin coat in shades of brown and beige worn by Sharon Stone in the movie Catwoman in 2003. It took 65 hours of workmanship to produce this coat.

This coat was worn by Gwyneth Paltrow in the movie The Royal Tenenbaums in 2001. I LOVED her in this movie. According to the sales lady it took 60 hours of workmanship to produce this coat.

Introducing Boutique ORA

Little fashion boutiques are like hidden treasures. So when my cousin called me to introduce me to his friend's newly opened boutique, I got very excited (and even more excited after checking their instagram account!). Boutique ORA opened its door on Thursday 20th of December 2012 at Omniya Centre in Salmiya Salem Al Mubarak St. Let me give you my impression about it in a nutshell, if you're looking for something that's uber-cool and that's not entirely mainstream, then you must check it out.
Boutique ORA was a dream of two young men from different backgrounds Ahmad Al Reshaid and Marco De Nardi who shared one passion and one dream. They believed that the fascinating change of consumer attitude toward fashion in Kuwait gave them a push and a sign that the market was mature enough to go for quality over quantity. And that's how it all started.

Boutique ORA carries six exclusive brands in Kuwait all made in Italy by talented emerging and uprising Italian designers. Such as Carlo Contrada, who won the famous VOGUE ITALIA new designer to watch, Isabel Benenato, a Central St. Martin alumni who has unique edgy deconstructed designs using top notch natural elements like Italian pure wool and silk, Misuraca, who worked with British designer John Richmond and is known for its elegant designs, Avelon offers an uber-chic selection of pieces using interesting materials like viscose, silk, and wool ideal for women of all ages, Barbara Gongini, a Danish designer who studied and is currently working in Milano offers a selection of extremely edgy designs using simple cotton, and last but not least, A brand A part which is a brand that represents the philosophy of simplicity, elegance and tradition of handmade Italian accessories, using only pure Italian handmade leather.

For further inquires about Boutique ORA or to order please send a message or call (+965) 9776-9927. You can also follow them on instagram to get their latest updates here.

Luxury Jones

I came across one of the most interesting vintage boots I have ever seen at Boutique 4 by a brand called Luxury Jones. Basically, the designer of the boots scouts vintage markets for western-style vintage boots, cuts them to make them ankle-length, and then decorates them by hand with one-of-a-kind and unique vintage belts, so there are no two pairs alike. This toned-down pair look fun, but I don't think it's something I can pull off.

Winter Sale Blues

Winter season always frustrates me. I'm always wondering if I bought enough clothes and accessories for the season or not, or if the clothes I bought were too heavy or not. And I hate layereing long sleeves, they make me feel fat. I hate tights, they itch. I hate jackets, they bulk me up. And most of all I HATE it when I end up buying things full price and only get to wear them AFTER they go on sale because of our long hot weather. Take for example my Tabitha Simmons King’s velvet and pearl button peep-toe boots (don't they look fabulously festive>), I only wore them once so far, and a week after I've worn them, they go on Sale! What a bummer! If only I have waited for a month or so... Oh well, we can't always get what we want. And I'll make sure to wear and tear these babies for years to come.

Art Deco

If only my living room's floor looked as gorgeous as this wooden deco box clutch from Lanvin, I'd never leave the room.... for a couple of hours (I have an attention span of a fish so I'm always easily distracted by something else, but I guess you got my point now). The mother-of-pearl details are killing me. You can get it here. Yup that's what I've been doing lately, shopping online since I'm on house arrest bed rest. Actually everyone who's living under our roof has been hit with the flu and other weird viruses. I think it's the humidity, I just wish it would go away. Anyhow, time for my ginger tea... more posts soon hopefully.

Customize Your Bag with Youtopia

Yesterday I have received an invite to attend an opening of a store called Youtopia Lifestyle store, set to open next week. There were no details mentioned in the invite of what sort of items will be sold, and my curiosity got the best of me so I checked their instagram account instantly. As I skimmed through their photos, I began to get an overview of what they'll be selling, which is home decor and accessories.  And I also found these super Kawaii customized pieces which they offer as part of their services. They reminded me of my customized LV speedy bag, which I promised I'll get a better photo of soon and share it with you here. I wonder how long it takes for a bag to be customized with your favorite print or artwork. I guess I'll have to wait for the opening day to find out.

Youtopia Lifestyle store will open at Lilly Center in Shuwaikh. For further inquiries, please call (+965) 6999-9636 or 2492-7787.

Introducing Opal and OP

I have been invited by the lovely designers behind Kuwait-based brand Opal Jewelry and OP Accessories Noor Al Ghanim and Alaa Al Mulla, to get a close look at their debut collection or necklaces and bracelets. The collection is currently being displayed at Panacheous boutique located at Discovery Mall.

Opal Jewelry is designed using precious stones and real diamonds and gold, OP on the other hand is the more affordable line, their prices start at KD15. Perfect for gifts or for teenage girls.

One item that caught my attention was the flower necklace shown below, it showcases a beautiful Swarovski crystals and offers three styling options, worn as a hair band, as normal necklace, and as a neck piece with a back detail. The collection is perfect for everyday use and I can just imagine how beautiful the necklaces would be worn with a simple white tee to let it shine. Scroll down for more of their beautiful designs.

The Avenues - Prestige

My sweet colleague D was in the Avenues the other day and took these photos of the Mall's newly open luxury shopping section called Prestige. I have posted some of the photos on my instagram. According to The Avenues' website, Prestige will provide visitors with special services such as valet parking and hands free shopping. Consisting of two levels, Prestige will provide up to 74 luxury retail units and high end food and beverage options. The focal point of Prestige is a spectacular 23m high central dome - flanked by two luxury anchors, including Harvey Nichols – that sparkles and hovers over an inspiring fountain water feature, shown in the photos below and above. Stores that are already open include Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Fendi, Celine, Ralph Lauren.

This is another new entrance for Harvey Nichols Kuwait

Something for Celine fans

Garden Party Anyone?

While skimming through the AlOthman's new resort collection, I came across these picnic-ready raffia heels by Oscar de la Renta. They looked like espadrilles from the front with pretty ribbon details. I can just imagine pairing them with flowy plain dresses, cropped jeans, or luxe ball skirts/skinny pants with mix-and-unmatch gingham prints (even better!). Ideal for our sunny days ahead which I'm guessing we will be getting in two months time max. Something to kick start my resort shoes purchases maybe....

Pre-Fall Already?!

If you're putting your cruise/resort shopping on hold now that we have finally started seeing signs of winter in K-town, then it's even going to be harder for you to resist the temptations of pre-fall shopping at Moda Operandi. Their latest arrivals by Aquazzura are so yummy and all laced-up. Click away here.
