Neo Goth Glamour

I passed by MAC the other day and noticed that they have launched a new lookk of black makeup called MAC's Style Black collection which features black nail polish, eye shadows, and an unusual shape of black lipstick. Seeing this goth make-up trend on nails and eyes is not surprising to me. But Gothic black lips is a trend that is very hard to pull off, unless your last name ends with a "nova" and you're a size zero! Would you rock this trend (other than for Halloween or a masquerade party)?!

Happy Halloween

I love seeing the creativity of window displays and visual merchandising techniques when traveling. Especially when there's a special holiday coming soon. So during my last trip, I have taken some photos of Halloween-themed window displays in different places in NYC such as FAO Schwarz and other under-the-radar stores.

Candy Corn brings back good memories of my childhood and my Halloween trick-or-treating. I wonder if they sell those here in Kuwait. By the way, what was your favorite Halloween costume? Happy Halloween everyone!

Video: Frankenfashion

The sumptuous Mist sandals from Rupert Sanderson's S/S 2010 collection were recently featured in Alex Turvey’s Frankenfashion: a new fashion film project commissioned by Dazed & Confused. Please watch the short clip and check out the shoes on the girl in white. Here's a description of the video:

"Exclusively commissioned by Dazed & Confused and featured as part of onedotzero and Dazed's Fashion in Film program at the BFI, Frankenfashion is being screened alongside the works of Chris Cunningham, Solve Sundsbo & Saam Farahmand. In his contribution, Turvey takes inspiration from the mythical Dr Frankenstein who took parts from different bodies to make a new being. Here, a macabre sequence of events sees fashion follow suit, leading to a surreal and transformational climax."

Paillette and More

How cute is this see-through paillette-embellished white cocktail dress by Miu Miu?! Spotted it at Villa Moda Shuwaikh and it came in one size only. All the accessories you need are a pair of patent leather heels, a small plain clutch, and MAC's Russian red lipstick.

The Sweet Torture

The torture I endured while shopping around for the "it" evening gown took a whole new level when my eyes caught the sight of these Pierre Hardy watersnake sandals with patent leather trim at Al Othman. The shoes exude hippy chic vibes with a blend of futuristic touch. There is only one word that describes them so well: FIERCE.

Into Too Many Details

I came across this magazine at Kuwait's Bookshop called "Show Details". The mag is published in Italy and it's not your typical fashion magazine. Actually it has a new concept, it's like a runway photo catalogue highlighting details of a designer's fashion show such as certain looks, models, and small details of the designed items. I think this magazine is beneficial or those who work in the fashion industry. Oh, and for some reason, the bookshop only had one old copy of this mag (Fall 2008) and it costs around KD 20 (!).

Pretty & Exotic Bow

Allow me to introduce you to my latest bag fetish. A Python bow bag by a fairly new Italian brand called Villador. The luxurious powder-pink top handle bag is decorated with a pretty large and soft bow. The bag can take you from casual jeans at daytime to something slightly dressier at night. It also comes with a hefty price tag, £4,100. The same shape and style can come in sheep skin, ostrich, and calf leather. The natural python has been so far the most popular and i must say it is the most beautiful! Each bags comes with it's own certificate of real skin.

The bag has been recently featured in Vogue Italia. And according to Villador's rep, pre-ordering usually takes approximately between 2 to 4 business weeks. Fine out more about it here.

To Chinchin or Not to Chinchin

I know a lot of fashionistas stand against the fur industry and support PETA's anti-fur campaigns. So if you're one of them, I suggest you skip reading this post. If you're not and money is not an object, then you might want to check out the softest and fluffiest fur coat I have seen in Kuwait so far at Fendi Boutique in Salhiya Complex. The chinchilla short coat comes with a pricey tag of around KD 10,000.

The Marni Cult

I love Marni's accessories. They always add an interest to whatever you're wearing. And this season Marni designed the most eclectic and uber-chic accessories compared to previous seasons. Just look at the photo shown above. I've seen Marni brooches and necklaces, but never Marni earrings! And they come in pink too (swoon!)

Colorful Swarovski encrusted sandals would look nice with flowy day dresses and Ramadan kaftans.

Cute doll brooches

Make a statement with Marni's felt-necklace. This charming piece is embellished with ceramic flowers, multicolored crystals and semi-precious stones.

Take your pick from Marni's whimsy and vintage-like iconic brooches. Over-used and abused by some girls here in Kuwait, but I still heart them.

Marni boutique is located at Villa Moda Shuwaikh, Free Trade Zone. Tel: +965 2482-7004. Open Saturdays - Thursdays from 10am to 10pm, Friday from 5pm to 10pm.

That Shoulder!

With all the numerous Balmain jacket knockoffs I came across in high-street stores, there's not a single jacket that has the same dimensions of the brand's structured shoulder. I'm yet to find one that has the same Balmain-ish effect and shape. Anyhow, if you have dough to spare, you can get this Balmain jacket at Al Othman.

Pink is the New Earring

I like the color pink, especially if it was in soft pastel shades. I don't think I'll ever grow out of this color. I'd be 90 years old dressed in pink head to toe, which at that age, it won't be a fashion faux pas. And to have two of my favorite things combined together (Pink AND Jewels). Now that's a killer combo! I got excited over some of the pieces displayed at the new jewelry section at Al Othman. I just want to adorn myself with a dash of pretty pink sparkle like these beautiful pink stone earrings. I think the ones shown in the photo above were like KD 350 if I'm not mistaken. The jewelry line is by a Lebanese designer called Randa Khalil Raad who has designed a collection exclusively to Al Othman.

Al Othman is located at Mariam Complex, Salem AlMubarak St, Salmiya. For inquires, please call (+965) 2575-4954.
