Copy Cat: Uma Thurman's Nina Ricci Bag
Uma Thurman hasn't been under the spotlight for quite sometime. I haven't seen her in gossip magazines or fashion photo shoots for at least a year. So it was refreshing to see her casual chic street style totting a leather flap front messenger bag from Olivier Theysken’s Autumn/Winter collection for Nina Ricci. I have a weakness for messenger bags, they're so easy to carry and would fit all my stuff.Nina Ricci bag collections will be available at AlOstura this Fall.

To Hunting We Shall Go
If you like the thrill of bargain hunting for designer duds, then you will have a blast at Villa Moda's outlet store at AlManshar, Fahaheel next to Al Kout Mall. I only found out about it recently (that it was turned into VM's warehouse). Women, Men, and Kids brands were up to 80% off. Marni, Prada, Gucci, Fendi, Rue du Mail, Thakoon, Peter Som, Juicy, Bottega, Dolce & Gabanna.. and much more. You will everything from evening gowns and cocktail dresses, to formal wear, casual chis items/denim, and accessories.

Now THIS is a collector's item. This is a beautiful in stand-out shape outdoor coat for people watching at a ski resort, or marching down fifth avenue in November (you get my drift) by Moncler from it's Gamme Rouge A/W 2008 collection designed by none other than the mind-blowing creative brain of Giambattista Valli. Was KD 1,621, and now it's priced at KD 324.
Here's another Moncler/Giambattista Valli creation. Was KD 726, and now it's priced at KD 145.
Light wool Marni Jacket in shades of grey is an investment pieces that you will wear for years to come. It was priced at KD 607 and now it's only KD 121.
Now this is a beeeeaautiiiful strapless black and hot pink evening gown by Roksanda Ilincic. Was KD 975 and now it's almost KD 190. Just look at the detail of the back of the dress.

Sale Away With Harvey
My trip to Dubai wouldn't be complete without paying our dearest friend Harvey a friendly and guilt-free visit. Harvey Nichols was having a huge Summer sale as you may have already figured it out from the window display shown above. So I went out splurging on a belated birthday shopping spree, there's always an excuse to shop!, and I started picking through the racks of designer duds and bargain items. And here are my favorite finds:
The accessories section of Harvey on the ground floor had more buzz than the clothes section.

Sprouse In Style
LV fans would be thrilled to know that the latest Sprouse collection of leopard print scarf in night blue and pale rose have recently arrived at Louis Vuitton's boutique at Salhiya Complex. Price tag? KD 201. And according to the SA, only one scarf is left from the pale rose one (featured in the above photo).

Spectacular Sarah
I'm proud to be showcasing some of the top emerging names in the fashion industry in the Middle East. And today's new and inspiring creative talent is from the lovely Lebanon. Recently graduated from Parsons the New School of Design in New York with a Fashion Design degree, ASK alumni and Lebanese designer Sarah Hermez is my latest talent discovery from our region. Sarah has interned with Issey Miyake, Stephanie Coudert, and Rabih Keyrouz. And according to my sources, one of her dresses has been actually displayed in Saks Fifth Avenue. How cool is that!?Featured here are some of her spectacular spring/summer Parsons thesis collection inspired by African masai warriors and their extraordinary use of color, massive beaded necklaces. Her collection was also experimenting with texture through knitting multicolor strips of chiffon, organza, silk, and the creation of hand-painted prints. A fun and bright collection that adds an enviously jolt of vibrant hues to any wardrobe.

Mother of All Malls - Part I
According to their site, Dubai Mall features more than 1,200 stores and over 120 food & beverage outlets. Amongst its world-class attractions are: an Aquarium with its own indoor tunnel, an Olympic-size Ice Rink; and the world's largest indoor Gold Souk.
I love the combo of snake skin shoes and neon yellow trimmed heels. Almost everything was on sale at Galeries Lafayette. Below is a photo of Givenchy s/s 2009 shoes section on 30% discount.

Luxury Summer Savings
super smart shoppers seeking luxury brands at discounted prices would be thrilled to know about The Outlet store at Salhiya Complex. It has quite good selection of clothes with up to 80% off from brands such as MaxMara, Kenzo, Christian Louboutin, Marella, and Marina Rinaldi. What I like best about outlets in general is that you can sometimes find real wardrobe investment pieces at ridiculously low prices without sacrificing the item's quality. So here are some of my finds...
Can you believe that these Chrisitian Louboutin knotted peep-toe sandals are only for KD 60!?! They used to be sold for KD 199. Would look smashing with Ramadan Kaftans or for an outdoor beach party.

Michelle's Moschino Mania
It seems that Michelle Obama has her heart set on Moschino lately. She wore Moschino to meet Pope Benedict last Friday. The black organza shirt with oversized bow, a silk tulle head scarf and a black skirt, were all from the Moschino Spring/Summer 2009 collection. And when she returned home with her family to the White House in the early morning after a trip overseas to Russia, Europe, Africa and the G-8 meeting. First Lady Michelle Obama exited Marine One at the White House on July 12 wearing a Moschino floral print dress.

Round And Round We Go
I have finally managed to go to 360 Mall. And even though the mall has a vast selection of high-end luxury brands such as: YSL, Dolce & Gabanna, Bottega, Gucci, Mathew Williamson, and Mcqueen, I've found the selection to be rather on the ... yawn side. I mean, Gucci already has a branch at Al Fanar and MW is already stocked at Al Othman, so why have it in another location in a small country?! Beats me. Anyhow, I'd like to share with you some of the things that I found interesting there... (like the humongous blue chandelier shown in the above photo)
My first stop was at a new store called ShoeBox NY. I was impressed to find a selection of shoes by Loeffler Randall (shown in the photo above). I think Randall boots are the best in terms of quality and price.
These golden gladiator sandals with wings detail from ShoeBox NY reminded me of the cartoon Astérix
Bimba & Lola is another Uterqüe-like store that I really liked. It has a cute selection of budget-friendly accessories and shoes like these snake skin peep-toe kitten heels which were KD 60 or 60-something.
Melange has an adorable selection of hair bands for the Blair within you. It also has new hair band designs by Kuwaiti designer Ibrah.
And I saved the best part of my 360 visit for last, which is the Fourth Pyramid exhibition, an exhibition outlining the life of the legendary Egyptian singer Um Kalthum. I'm definitely taking my parents to this exhibition, they would LOVE it.
Here are some photos of Um Kalthum's visit to Kuwait where a Private party was held back in the 60's. I tried to figure out some of the faces here. I only was able to identify Adlah Al-Sayer. Do you recognize any of the women featured in these photos? I would have loved to be a part of this historical party/gathering. The women here all looked so chic and glamorous.

Two of my favorite paintings at the exhibition. I wasn't able to get info on whether they're for sale or not. Probably not..
And here are Um Kalthum's original handbag and shoes by Gucci. Imagine how much these vintage items would cost if they sell them. The bag looked beautiful and very classy.
What was your favorite section/store at 360 and Um Kalthum's exhibition? H&M's Mega Sale

Net-A-Porter On The Go
Now that's what I call upping the ante in style.. m-style.
Devine Dining
As promised, here's my list of my favourite restaurants/cafes in beriut for this year:
- BouBouffe has the BEST beef shawerma I have ever tried in my life and they deliver anywhere in Beirut, call them at (+961) 33-4040
- Balima Cafe at Saifi Square opposite to Cream Boutique in Saifi Village for coffee/tea or a quick snack (1st photo). The best (and oldest) cafe in Beirut has to be Cafe Younes in Commodore Street.
- For people watching and delicious breakfast, go to Paul Cafe in Gemmayzeh for Sunday Brunch
- For dinner head to Centrale at Mar Maroun Street in Gemmayzeh for the atmosphere only, their food is not as good as it used to be
- Hungry carnivores craving for juicy steaks can head to Balthus in Downtown Beirut (2nd photo) or La Parilla in Gemmayzeh. The food is amazing there
- Casablanca located in Ain El Marrissah has the best breakfast in Beirut (and fun for some people watching too)

Lazy B was like a piece of heaven in Lebanon. It was so serene, quiet, natural, and simply beautiful. The most relaxing beach I have been to in Lebanon. Here are some photos to give you a feel of the tranquility of the place.
You can say that my short trip to Beirut was mainly to relax, rejuvenate, and EAT! No shopping or staying up late! I'll share with you tomorrow some of my favorite restaurants.

Kids'R'Us
I have received this by e-mail from a Kuwaiti guy who sells Kids'r'us tops online on CafePress. CafePress is a community of 6.5 million members, where anyone can go online to create, sell, and buy T-Shirts and other "print-on-demand" products.
Speaking of Kids'r'us, did you know that the name was actually created by a Bayan Bilingual School's Student back in the 80's? Apparently, when Al-Ghanim company decided to open the toy store, it approached the school and announced a competition where students had to come up with a name for the store. And One Kuwaiti female BBS student won the competition. And that's how the brand was created. Nice!

Bye bye New York
Time to wrap up the New York posts as I need to catch up on other posts I have in line for you. I was disappointed with the installation/artwork (or the lack of it) of Chanel's window display. However, I luved the golden lace embossed leather of this Chanel quilted bag.
You wouldn't see me purchasing these Dior's fertility statue heels shown here but they are a real show-stoppers. And the reason why I wouldn't buy them us not because of the heel, but I kind of find the thin straps of the heels a bit on the tacky side. The statue is funny and cute.

Another Lovely Day In New York City
More photos straight from NYC's Fifth Avenue, 57th and 58th streets to be exact. Window shoppers and modern art fanatics will fall in love with the window display of the unparalleled luxury retailer Bergdorf Goodman. The American Visionary Art Museum has decorated the window displays and they have shipped more than 50 pieces from the museum’s permanent collection to appear on BD's 11 window displays. Some art pieces even made it to the sales floor as installations. Loved it!
