Moda Mall.. Bahrain's New Shopping Destination

What's better than to end my 2008's posts with a fashionable visit to Bahrain's much anticipated new shopping destination, MODA Mall. I LOVED it! The ultra-exclusive high-end shopping mall is located on the ground floor of Bahrain World Trade Center (BWTC).

This ultimate dream destination for shopaholics visiting Bahrain has the following designer boutiques: Burberrys, Louis Vuitton, Roberto Cavalli, Tods, Fendi, Hermes, Stella McCartney, Alexander McQueen, Blumarine, Kenzo, MaxMara, Christian Lacroix, Dolce & Gabbana, Armani, Agent Provocateur, and Dior all under one roof. And of course you'll also find my favorite Kuwait luxury fashion retailer: Villa Moda (just look at the amazing door entrance of the store shown in the photo below) and Al Othman.

And for fashionistas who love to dazzle, there's a whole section called the Jewelry Garden Court, where shoppers will be dazzled by jewels from world leading jewelers such as Van Cleef & Arples, De Beers, Piaget, Chopard, and Chanel.

I'm so thrilled that such an amazing shopping hub is sooo close to us in a country that I simply adore. Makes me wonder, which brand/store/restaurant do you wish it would open at Moda Mall?

Event: Pecha Kucha Night

Pecha Kucha Night is a non profit event, conceived, inspired, and performed solely to strengthen creative talent of various presenters. Each presenter is allowed 20 images, shown for 20 seconds each – giving 6 minutes and 40 seconds of fame before the next presenter is up. This keeps presentation concise, the interest level up, and gives more people the chance to show.

Pecha Kucha Nights function in 159 cities worldwide, including regional cities of Dubai, Beirut, and Doha. It will now be hosted in Kuwait. This was made possible as a result of a written proposal submitted to Klein and Dytham architecture (KLa) by Dr. Aseel al-Ragam.

PKN will be hosted 4 times a year; the first one will be launched in the second week of March.

Target Audience: Artists, architects, cooks, entrepreneurs, flâneurs, dandies, sport jocks, scientists, mathematicians, engineers, fashion designers, photographers, and more.

Burberry to open childrenswear stores in Dubai and Kuwait‏

Burberry is pleased to announce the opening of two Burberry childrenswear stores in Dubai and Kuwait, scheduled to open in February and March 2009 respectively. The 110 square metre Dubai store will be located within the newly opened Dubai Mall, where Burberry also recently opened a flagship store. This store carries men’s and women’s ready-to-wear from the Burberry Prorsum and Burberry London collections, as well as accessories, fragrances, timepieces
and sunglasses.

The 150 square metre childrenswear Kuwait store will be located within the Avenues Mall and will be the third store to open in the country. The other Burberry stores are located within the Arraya Centre and Salmiya’s Marina Mall.

Burberry childrenswear collections are directly inspired by styles in the Burberry men’s and women’s ready-to-wear collections and reference the signature trench coat, trademark check, British heritage and technical sport.

I'm not a big fan of bling bling but occasionally I do find some really nice accessories subtly encrusted with swarovski crystals. Like this easy to carry Yazi hard case clutch with a long shoulder chain. It's a chic & comfy way to carry your evening essentials.

Food is Art

I'm sure most of you have seen the Chocolate Festival hosted by The Avenues Mall a couple of days ago, they had different booths for people in the chocolate business to display their work. What caught my attention was a booth called "Food is Art" which was displaying deliciously amazing chocolate sculptures. The lady at the booth, who turned out to be the business owner, was working on a huge sculpture of Kuwait Towers entirely made out of white chocolate. YUM!!

Anyways, to cut a long story short, the UK based shop owner was kind enough to show me samples of her work and I instantly fell in love with hand created life-size chocolate sculpture of a Gina shoes and Ruby red shoes (featured below).



She can create shoes and bags with dark, milk or white chocolate, or a combination, depending on style of your favourite shoes. Each shoe can be decorated with edible sparkles, roses, swirls, spirals, dots, zig-zags, or whatever you have in mind. The good news she does deliver to Kuwait.
