Webby Wednesday:

Here's another Kuwaiti Online Shopping site, which I've recently heard of through one of my readers. features electronics, handbags & wallets, watches, apparel, sunglasses, shoes , accessories, and more. Some of the brands being sold online are: Chloe, Chanel, Balenciaga, Bottega Veneta, Marc Jacobs, Prada, Miu Miu, Nokia, Omega, Gucci, LV, Sony, and YSL to name a few. The website was first introduced to the public in July 2007 and until today they have around 7,078 unique visitors from Kuwait and the GCC region.

So how did the idea of having a Kuwait based online shopping site come about? "We own which offers web hosting and web design and development services. The nature of this business prompts you to place orders online in order to save a lot of money and time and allows you to get products that are unavailable in Kuwait. So the idea popped up to my mind to make an E-commerce website that caters to almost all group ages and interests".

According to the owner of, they provide 100% authentic products at low prices. And in most cases, the items are less than half of the retail prices. All handbags and accessories come with serial numbers and guarantees.

"When we first developed the site, we started by selling handbags, authentic and new ones with special prices. Then the iPhone came up to the surface and that gave the big push, later on we started to add more products and started getting an increasing number of orders daily.", added owner.

"We are from Kuwait but we bring our products from suppliers from different countries, such as USA, UK , Italy , Korea , Japan ...etc".

Have you heard of before? Did you ever purchase anything from it? Do you feel safe purchasing from an Online Kuwaiti shopping site?

Sheikh of Chic on NY Times Magazine's Blog

New York Times T Magazine’s blog "The Moment" had Sheikh of Chic Majed Al Sabah as this week’s guest blogger. The Moment is a daily blog that spans the T Magazine universe of fashion, design, food and travel. Click here to read it.

It was very interesting to know that Majed Al-Sabah have been meeting with artists and galleries in the states about a museum which he plans to open in Dubai during new year's. I'm looking forward to see how the museum will turn out to be.

Sale Spectacular At Net-A-Porter

Up to 60% Off at Net-A-Porter!!!!
My eyes are glazed.. weird feeling in my stomach.. Racing heart beats.. gasp for air! What am I waiting for!! Girl, you better go and get your plastics. Don't just wait here and try to justify your purchases!

The rational side of my brain is telling me that "Just because Net-a-porter is having a MAJOR SALE, it doesn’t make that Fendi gown hot, and same goes for Chloe bags (Giles, Alexander Mcqueen, and Oscar De La Renta are an exception though!)". But then the devilish side of my brain is more like"Major damage to the credit card? Ah, so what? Life is short! Go on, you know you've been eyeing that dress for quite sometime!"

What can I say... Who can resist a great bargain! Now if you'll excuse, I'm on a mission...

3.1 Philip Lim Cruise Collection At Al Ostoura

Very so often, I like taking a simple approach to dressing especially on weekend when you just want to feel relaxed and comfy with the company of your good friends. And of course who masters this design tactic better than Philip Lim?!

I went to Al Ostoura’s store at Zahra Complex to check out Philip Lim’s 2008 Cruise Collection. And of course, Mr. Lim never ceases to amaze me. His cruise collection featured cotton tricot cardigans, flaring and ruffled shift dresses, and silk tops with flower applique details. All in spring like colors such as green, pink, blue, white, and khaki's. Here's a sample of what's available in-store now.

Let me tell you though, it helps if you’re as petite as Rachel Bilson as most dresses were on the mini side and it would ruin the look to wear the dresses with leggings.

Francesco BIASIA at Al Thurraya Complex

Al Ostoura Group has now a new addition to their collection of brand accessories. Newly soft-opened Francesco BIASIA boutique features a selection of Italian handbags and leather accessories. It’s too soon for me to make any critical judgments here as I haven't seen the entire collection yet. If you have already been to the boutique, I'd like to know what you think of the collection.

Francesco BIASIA boutique is located at Al Thurraya Complex.

Oasis... I'm Slightly Impressed

I said this before and I'll say it again. Ever since TopShop took over high-street fashion, I stopped buying from other UK high-street fashion retailers for several valid reasons. For starters, TopShop's collection went through drastic changes and has the ability to produce stylish clothes of good quality with an unbeatable price. Other retailers, such as Oasis, kept on producing redundant "housewife-like" clothes and their prices were not that competitive or as attractive.

But I was taken by surprise during a recent curious visit to Oasis store by some items which looked more TopShop-ish than Oasis-ish. I think these items are part of their Christmas Special collection. And what I also found interesting, the resemblance between those items and high-end designer items. Here, for example is a KD 39 red fitted cotton dress with drape and panel detailing that looked extremely similar to RM Moon Dress available at Net-A-Porter for KD 540.

I found this dress to be very adorable. And I loved the puff sleeves detail. It would make a fabulous item to wear for a small formal dinner with friends. The dress is priced at KD 50. The shape of this dress actually reminded me of Derek Lam's metallic short dress which was featured in runways and fashion magazines for fall 2007 collection.

The beaded dress shown below actually doesn't look as bad as it does in the picture. It's nice and classic. Perfect if you're on a budget as the cost of this dress is KD 41 only.

This casual black dress with white ribbons and round collars can easily be mistaken for Marc by Marc Jacobs or Anna Sui.

And finally, As much as I'd hate to admit it, but I'd have to say that those two shoes look kind of stylish Chloe-ish and Marc Jacob-ish. Don't expect them to be as comfortable as Tod's though.

When was the last time you bough something from Oasis?

Forget your pashminas and shahtooshs, this season Fur is back in a big way. Real or faux fur, recently celebs, including the Olsen Twins, Kate Moss, and Sarah Jessica Parker, were all spotted wearing fur on their night outs.

I think it's more appropriate here in Kuwait to wear fur for formal events and special occasions only (and NO! going to Salhiya Complex or Lorenzo does not count as a special occasion!). I know the weather these days is not helping much to sport this trend, but think of it this way, fur is something that would never ever go out of style, so buying a fur coat is a true investment piece. Besides, if you can't wear your fur for outdoor events, you can always wear it in freezing hotel party halls.

Anyhow, I found a really nice selection of mink and rabbit furs at a store located in Marina Mall called Zerbaft (next to Miss Sixty). Here is a sample of what's in store:

The fur selection of throws, collars, and coats is by a French brand called Yves Salomon who is very famous in the fur fashion. Apparently, the brand has been in this industry since 1850 and has recently collaborated with Oscar De La Renta on some designs for it's fall collection.

The fur coats price range between KD 500 and KD 740. Go have a look if you're interested. According to the sales lady, they are selling them like hotcakes.

Dear Confashion: How To Wear The Bubble Skirt

Rawan: Actually I'm in a fashion crisis since I have ordered this Rachel Pally black bubble skirt and I don't know what to wear on top? I was considering the Rachel Pally's swing turtlenecks with a waist belt? Moreover, I'm stuck with the color (black, deep purple, or the light brown). Or you may give me any other suggestion with what to wear on top since I'm outta ideas.

A: The bubble skirt makes a strong statement, so the trick is not to overwhelm it. Instead, keep your look simple and streamlined and let the skirt do the talking. So forget any sort of shapeless or loose tops, and pick a fitted top preferably in silk or chiffon for formal events or with cotton tops or fitted cropped jackets for day. And finish your look with a simple pair of round-toe ballerina flats for a casual outing or a solid-colored pair of killer platforms.

Since the color of your skirt is plain black, I suggest that you mix it with cobalt blue tops. Cobalt blue is so in and it compliments the dark shade of black. Or you can go classic with grey and with a touch of yellow and white. And you're good to go.

Wishing You a Happy Eid

I just wanted to say a big Happy Eid to all fashionistas out there. And allow me to encourage you during this season, which is all about giving, to clean up your closets and do some de-cluttering. Give away those things you haven't worn for decades (or a couple of seasons) to the less fortunate ones. Believe me, you'll feel much better about yourself.
Eidkum Mubarak

Dear Confashion: Bags For Fall

eshda3wa: Big bag, small bag, shiny bags... so many bags! Whats in for fall ?

A:As I mentioned previously on here, I think "it" bags are over-rated. Big or small, go with whatever you feel it reflects your personal style. Having said that, this season I'm thinking big, obnoxious, in-your-face kind of bags (and that's my personal style for this season). This fall, nothing seems over-the-top. Patent, patent, patent is the way to go. Choose a patent leather bag in gem colors as it would instantly compliment fall's black and grey colored clothes. This season, Chloe and Bottega Venetta presented beautiful patent leather bags.

If you're not into bold colors, pick a patent leather bag in black or grey but make sure that the bag has some hardware details like studs, chains, or zippers to give it that edgy rock-chic look. Brands which offer such handbags this season includes: Chanel, YSL, Stella McCartney, and Burberry.

Another alternative is to go for over-sized clutches that will take you from day to night. My fave this season are Fendi colored clutch, Jimmy Choo patent and python clutches, and Prada patent clutch.

News Flash: Gucci's Cruise Collection at Villa Moda

New deliveries for Gucci Cruise 2008 have arrived at Villa Moda Shuwaikh located at the Free Trade Zone.

Pedro Garcia Resort collection at N.B Boutique

N.B: Boutique kicked off their cruise collection with it’s latest Pedro Garcia resort additions. The always classic and almost never disappointing collection includes very chic and welcoming party sandals encrusted with art deco rhinestone detail. One pair featured a vinyl peep toe detail (originally revived by Chanel for S/S 2007 collection, apparently vinyl is still in). I have also noticed Marc Jacobs included vinyl in his cruise collection. Anyhow, Pedro Garcia Resort collection would be perfect if you’re looking for formal/evening shoes with a timeless beauty. I personally think that the shoes goes very well with 50’s inspired flapper dancers.

N.B: Boutique is located at Salhiya Complex, Mezzanine 2. For more info, you can call them at (+965) 24 99 333. Here are a sample of Pedro Garcia’s Resort Collection.

Can I tell you another secret?

I’m a longtime fan of Sigerson Morrison’s shoes. I like the delicate cut of almost all Sigerson Morrison shoes and their leather detailing. and when I heard that this brand will be the latest addition to Villa Moda’s Spring/Summer in-store collection, I was over the moon! I’m in love with Sigerson Morrison flats, they are the perfect pair to pack for any holiday gateway or for chic shopping sprees which involve serious walking.

Now, I hope my sources are right. If they’re not, that will be a big disappointment for all shoeaholics in Kuwait.

Do Your Homework Before You Spend- Part II

Here's another incident shared to us by Ansam where she encountered some retail unfairness (that's my politically correct way of saying ripped off!). Apparently, Ansam went to BCBG at Arraya and bought this dress, shoes, and bag and her total was around KD 364. Later she has found out that the same items are available on and they total to USD 871.60, which is equivalent to KD 239.

If Ansam bought these items online, she would have saved around KD 100. Ansam, you learned your lesson the hard way. I feel for you, I've been in such situation and it is extremely annoying! Especially that stores here in Kuwait rarely apply the "Refund" policy. In fact, the only places I can think of which provide a refund for their clients are Zara and Al-Shaya Group. You either get store credit and or hit the highway.

Copy Cat: YSL's White Evening Gown

Ms. Richie, you must be worth a million bucks, I just love whatever you wear (FYI, I know that's not how the song goes)! Anyways, Ms. Richie was spotted at a recent Beverly Hills event looking drop-dead gorgeous like a stunning contemporary goddess in a long white Yves Saint Laurent gown. I LOVE everything about this gown, the simplicity, the color, the beads and sequins detail on the front, and the fact that you can wear it without worrying about your hips and tums! It’s the perfect thing to wear for a big formal wedding. The gown has that soft flowing look of Grecian style with a modern twist. And if you’re a size 34 or a 38, then you’re one lucky lady! You can copy Nicole's look by purchasing the gown from Browns. The dress is priced at around KD 1,583. What can I say, copying a celeb's look does not come at a cheap price...

But be careful, you need to keep it simple to pull off this dress, make-up, hair, and jewelry should be on the soft and simple side. Wear small ear studs or thin small hoops, you don’t want the top to be too overpowering.

Mama's Got A Brand New Bag*

Bulga Bags have made a name of themselves in the past couple of years after they’ve been totted around by celebs such as Mena Suvari and Jessica Simpson. And I agree, that’s not a reason to buy a bag. However, when you see the next photo of a mouth-watering purple bag, you might have a second opinion.

Simple and practical, the hardware and the shape of the Bulga Bag shows there’s enough fabulousness to be carried by busy-working fashionistas on the go. And of course, the roomy shape of the bag makes it the perfect day bag. If you want to get this bag, I say go for the purple one, just what the Dr. Fashion ordered for casual winter wardrobe.

I’m sure that a lot of you will be happy to know that the Bulga bags will be available in mid December at N.B: Boutique which is located at Salhiya Complex, Mezzanine 2. For more info, you can call them at (+965) 24 99 333. Here are some pictures of Bugla bags they are getting.

Which one did you like the most?

*The title of this post is inspired by one of James Brown's song titles. I used "Mama" instead of "Papa".
