I Heart Zagliani

If you haven't "Botox-ed" your skin yet (and I hope you don't need it), and you want to know how it feels like to have a botox injected skin, then here's a safe (and pricey) solution for you. Allow me introduce you to the mink of the handbags world. Get your hands on the latest "IT" bag of the season, Zagliani.

Zagliani designer Mauro Orietti-Carella came up with the idea of injecting exotic skins such as python and crocodile with silicone, which is usually used to perk up the complexion, in the production of his bags. The result? a beautiful, super silky smooth, pillow-soft bag.

Zagiani comes in different colors & skin types: silver python, gold python, red crocodile, black crocodile. I know the bag has been in the market almost a year ago. But it has been recently carried by Jlo as shown in the pic. The price tag? $2,850. They are currently sold at Harvey Nichols London, in case you're planning to go there for what's left of the summer.

Oh and by the way, just to set the records straight here. No, I'm not obsessed with Jlo. It just happened that I mentioned her name in less than a week. I don't see that being repeated anytime soon I hope.

Gap Goes Lanvin

Being a Loubie Loub addict I never thought I'd say this but ballet flats are so chic and the thing to wear when I'm shopping around town or on a vacation. And what's even more chic is wearing pair of Lanvin Flats (as seen by many celebs). There's only one tiny problem, Lanvin Flats are sold out everywhere! Plus, not everyone would want to pay over $650 for a pair of casual flats.

So girls, guess what I found? (hint the pictures shown below). GAP "Lanvin-ish" flats. I literally gasped with excitement when I saw them at the GAP store at the Avenues. They're unbelievably comfortable, stylish, and cheap! They are sold for KD 10 ONLY! They come in patent white, patent black, and matt gray. Grab them before they sell out.

I want JLo's Marchesa Gown

Although some may argue that sometimes Jennifer's sense of style goes astray, you have to admit, the girl can hit the jack pot every now and then.

Jlo looked STUNNING in an asymmetrical salmon Marchesa chiffon gown at the New York premiere of El Cantante. I'm sure the movie sucks, but who cares, as long as you're dressed in a Marchesa gown, every thing's going to be alright.

If you could dress up a celebrity, who would it be and which designer would you choose?

I'd have to say Marchesa of course (surprise!) and the celeb would be either Lindsay Lohan or Madonna.

Looking for a Patent Leather Bag?

Can you believe that the above bag is actually from Zara and sold for KD 35.500 only?! I liked this bag a lot. Perfect for fall and has the key trends for this season: patent leather + structured shape. The bag comes in gray, as shown above, and white. This bag is good for someone who doesn't want to spend a lot of money on a patent leather bag.
As we all know, Zara makes handbags & clothes inspired by luxury brands such as Chanel, Miu Miu, Prada, Marc Jacobs, Marni... etc, and I think most of its stuff actually looks pretty decent. Don't you think this bag is a mix between Prada & Miu Miu?

Deena.. The Princess of Fashion

I would like to present you with my latest fashion muse. Saudi Princess Deena Abdulaziz. Not only her wedding dress was designed by Azzedine Ala├Ća, but also Mr. Christian Louboutin named a shoe after her. Every season you will find her invited to the most prestigious fashion shows, front row of course, where she'll be either scouting new talents for her business, or simply filling out her fashion appetite (jealous? moi?).

To showcase her inner fashion sense, the princess of fashion opened her own museum-like boutique/cafe, D'NA, in her hometown of Riyadh. D'NA is the Saudi's answer to Al-Othman & Villa Moda. She has been featured in Vogue, Style.com, New York magazine, Alf magazine, Thouq magazine, and New York Times Style.

I must say I feel very proud to have someone like Princess Deena in this region who is inspiring, elegant, and a creative entrepreneur, plus works in a field I'm so passionate about. I wonder how she's like in person. Below are some pictures of her exclusive members only boutique.

Webby Wednesday - Tobi.com

This is one of my favourite online shopping destinations. Tobi online boutique offers the best selection of clothes, accessories, beauty products, and fashion advice. Expect to find your favorite brands and new labels you’ve never heard of before right in front of you.
They post daily editorial content to keep you up-to-date with the latest fashion news, they have online stylists who will guide you through the collections and trends to find what works best on you by chatting online, their Look Book section shows you how to wear most of the items, AND customers can upload photos of purchased Tobi items or offer styling tips. Now that's what I call "Fashionably Interactive".
My favourite item? SONIA by Sonia Rykiel ribbon coat with bright green lining as shown in the pic above. Not your typical heavy sweaty coats. It's just perfect for our winter.

In the News...

  • Want to know the latest on BarneyNY/Dubai? Well, Dubai's Istithmar is considering launching Barneys New York in markets such as China and the Middle East if it completes the deal to buy Barneys NY. As reported in UAE's media, Istithmar considered its $825 million bid for Barney's a "full offer" and would wait until next month to find out whether it had succeeded against an unsolicited $900 million offer from a Japanese company.

  • Mango & Stradivarius are having sale now up to 70%. You can go to any of the following locations: Al-Fanar, Souk Sharq, Magic Mall, Mohallab, Marina Mall, and The Avenues.

  • New Autumn/Winter 2007 deliveries for D&G and Manish Arora have arrived at Villa Moda Shuwaikh.

Whistles Pre-Fall Collection at Al Raya

I remember back in the days, I used to be a huge fan of Whistles. Then suddenly, i stopped shopping at Whistles when it went for the grannie look. I think the guys at Whistles realized that they are not doing well, so they started producing stylish items. Now, I find their collection impressive. Their style is not too edgy, so it still manages to retain elegance and trendiness at the same time.
They have just released their pre-fall collection and it is available at their store in Al Raya Complex. Pictured above are some of the items that I really liked:
  • White tunic Chloe-inspired dress with white embellishment. KD 47. (My favourite)
  • Yellow cardigan with lace trimming. KD 20.
  • Purple knitted top with peter pan collar. KD 31.
  • Navy crochet top with white crochet trimming. KD 41.
  • White Jackie-O style cropped jacket. KD 71.

Good luck Shopping!

I'm not a Plastic Bag Wannabe

Well well well.. look who's not plastic (nor paper) now. Inspired by Anya Hindmarch's bag, Ron Herman has caught the Eco-products & environmentally friendly bug. They are offering a new "I'm a Ron Herman bag" for free with any purchase of $100 or more. I didn't feel as excited about this bag as I did for the Anya Hindmarch one.

On a different note, you will instantly fall in love with Ron Herman's online shopping site (I know it's not webby Wednesday, but I had to mention it!). You'll find stuff from CC Skye, 3.1 Phillip Lim, Malene Birger, Marc Jacobs, Nina Ricci, and Milly to name a few.

And In The News: Shopping for Fall

Villa Moda Shuwaikh has received new deliveries for Gucci, Prada Sport, Miu Miu, and Marni. Wouldn't it be nice if we could shop for those new items online? I don't feel like shopping in this dusty weather.

Marni Like Necklaces at TopShop

TopShop at the Avenues has just received Marni-like plastic and chain necklaces as shown above. They are sold for KD 16 each. I know, not your average TopShop price. But I don't think they'll have a problem with that as they do look a lot like Marni and a lot cheaper than Marni.
Wearing the right necklace can transform an outfit making you look from drab to fab. The key rule here is not to over do it. Wear your bold chunky necklaces with plain and simple tops so that the focus is on your necklace not on the lacy frills of your top. Are you a necklace person?

Prada Goes eBay Style

Going once.. going twice.. Gone! Yup, it's the Prada online auction of designer prototypes originally created for the catwalk of the Fall/Winter 2007 season.

Through July 25, Prada will be auctioning 24 one-of-a-kind pieces. None of the items have appeared or been produced in the colors or materials for the masses (that's you and me darling). The 24 items will be posted in increments every Monday, Wednesday and Friday for a 7 day auction. There are currently nine items up for grabs. My fave? The Aquamarine gradient green & silver bag. And you know what's fun? Watching the bidding history. This bag started at 639 euros and now it has reached 1,600 euros.

Apparently, the proceeds of the sale will benefit a medical research facility in Italy. So you can actually convince yourself that you are doing a selfless good deed by bidding online.. Prada Style that is.

News Flash: BCBG New Arrivals

New summer collection at BCBG MAXAZRIA. Exciting colors like turquoise, navy blue, and yellow. Visit the store at Alraya Centre. Tel.: (+965) 2997739.

Shouldn't they be selling the Autumn/Fall collection at this time of the year?

A Piece of Fendi Art

During a recent shopping spree, I came across this Fendi Spy Bag at Fendi's Boutique in Salhiya Complex priced at KD 2,426. I wouldn't buy this bag since embellished day bags are not in for fall 2007 (plus it's hefty price tag is not that forgiving), but I do appreciate the craftsmanship & the efforts put into the creation of this piece of art. I loved the wonderful & eccentric mix of textures on it. It had a little bit of navy patent leather, colored small beads, and delicate embroidery. I think this bag would be perfect for Fendi fans who want to carry something completely different and who are into collectible items.
For inquiries, call the oh-so-friendly Ms. Elizabeth Aliazas at Fendi Salhiya on (+965) 2493985.

My fave item? This simple-chic bib front shirt which I think it could be a wardrobe staple. You can wear it with your favorite denim on casual days, or with an A-line skirt or a midi topped with a fitted cardi for work. The price tag? Only $195. Loves it.

Burberry Prorsum in Alraya

Seriously, did any of you knew that Burberry Prorsum collection was actually being sold at Burberry store here in Kuwait?! How come I never knew about it! I feel hurt & betrayed! And you know what was even more annoying is that I clearly remember I had speciafcally asked the saleswoman at Burberry Al Raya if they sell Burberry PRORSUM collection and she answered me with a firm and assertive "NO".
Anyways, to my surprise I found those 3 pieces left from the collection on Burberry's sale rail. And I liked them all:
  • The pink lace & cotton dress, woven with silver and pink metallic thread. Perfect for formal evening events. Was KD 841, now KD 547.
  • The seventies inspired graphic print tunic dress in a pale green. The bracelet sleeves are finished with layered pleated panels, which is repeated on the hem. Beautiful piece, but overpriced. Was KD 849, now KD 552.
  • The gorgeous buttery brown leather evening trench coat with 3/4 sleeves adorned with huge colored swarovski crystals. This piece is stunning. The photo Just does not do it Justice. Was KD 2,500, now KD 1,625.

It's not worth it to buy the pieces but they are definitely worth the watch (and wear!).

Get your manicured hands on the new Balenciaga

Die-hard Balenciaga fans rejoice. Now you can get your hands on Balenciaga Le Dix Motorcycle Bag with Gold AND silver studs in Kuwait. Yup, you heard me right, silver huge studs, that’s the latest addition to the Motorcycle Balenciaga Bag collection. Where? At S-Style Boutique, Basement 1, Zahra Complex.

  • Medium red & green Balenciaga: KD 495
  • Large blue Balenciaga: KD 535
  • Black Balenciaga: KD 475

What do you think of the replacement of the huge golden studs with the silver one? I think the bags look slightly pale. On the contrary, the golden hardware compliments almost any colored leather beautifully. It give it more of a rocker chic look with a sophisticated twist. The Silver hardware is just… blah! In any case, The color of the studs shouldn't be a problem. with a bit of celebrity endorsement, the Silver studded bag will probably turn into another big Balenciaga hit.

Other colors available? White & Brown. For inquiries, please call (+965) 5717758.

A Nod To The Sixties...

During a recent visit to Salhiya Complex (AGAIN?!) I found this amazingly cute and simple lime green dress with bronze and golden embellishments designed by Milly at Lime Light (by the way, they are having 30 to 50% sale). The moment I glanced at it, it was love at first sight (An overstatement? Probably). I really liked the dress. I think the beauty of this dress is that it can be worn now with platform sandals or for winter with thick opeque tights. Also, because of it's classic shape, it can be worn for this season and beyond. This dress actually reminded me of 60's fashion icons like Jackie O and Edie Sedgwick. The dress was being sold for KD 160 and now it's being sold for KD112.
And just in case you were wondering, Paul & Joe's clothes are not on sale.
