Pink Moon the Boutique

Yup dear fashionistas.. This is the brick and mortar version of pinkmoonboutique.com located in Jibla area next to Burger Hub (what a location it is! No traffic). The interior of the store is the dream of every true girly girl, dominated by the color pink of course. The walls are a mix of differently designed wallpaper. in one corner there's a huge poster of Marlyn Monroe. The collection is pretty much the same as what you see online. However, the Brownie point is that you can try them on and buy them instantly. Reema Al-Yacoub, Executive Director of the store was extremely friendly :)
The store is open from 5PM to 9PM for now and in 2 weeks time it will be operating mornings & evenings.

Note: More pictures will be coming soon..

Paris Hilton Panties

I came across this bazaar news while surfing the net, Inspired by the great Paris debate, Mio Destino, a designer lingerie company, has specially designed "Free Paris" and "Jail Paris" silk panties. The company will contribute 50% of the profits from the 'Paris Hilton Panties’ sales to an Ovarian Cancer Action charity.
ooook. I ain't no Condoleezza, nor am I into politics, but come on, with allll the problems we have in our world, who cares if the poor little heiress went to jail or not?!

Princess Najdiya

Remember a few years back when Najdiya slippers for females were in? For some reason, I didn't buy into this look. The female Najdiyas were not that... well you know.. female-ish! I tried the pink ones one but still, i felt like a 12 years old boy, who's a little too much in touch with his femininity, wearing a flashy Najdiya..
Today, however, I have a different view. I saw those Najdia Slippers on Pret-a-Souk.com and I'm completely in loooove. Those silver metallic leather Najdiyas are so chic & unique. The only drawback is that what you see here are Najdiyas for little girly girls (sigh). Makes me want to be 10 years old again! They're the perfect gift for for your lovable daughter, sis, or niece.

Webby Wednesday - Little London

This is a new feature which I've decided to add to my blog, every Wednesday I'll be featuring a new online shop with my fave items and a brief on the site.
This Webby Wednesday I'd like to introduce you to... (drums please..) Little London.
The #1 reason why I love this site is because they ship internationally. I know that most of us use ARAMEX addresses and that shouldn't be a problem, but still, sometimes you just like to receive your purchases no later than 2-3 days max!

www.little-london.com have a great selection of designer clothes, bags, and accessories. The navigation is not THAT friendly though, but the extensive collation is worth it. They sell brands such as: MaxMara, Luella, Biba, Kenzo, and Ghost.

I Like: This Kenzo dot dress for 195 pounds is the perfect ensemble for a small party, baby reception, or a formal dinner. Pair it with a killer red patent heels and you're good to go.

Old news: Girlshop.com no more

I must be really out of the loop because I just found out this minute that GirlShop.com is shutting down. They’re basically run out of business by all the online competition. And I’m guessing from the e-mail which I have received that online shopping mogul net-a-porter.com has purchased the site.

I am truly saddened by this bit of fashion news. Girlshop.com was one of my favorite online destinations. I used to always find something unique to purchase. It’s a sad sad world. I wonder who’s next? And who will survive?

News Flash: One day Only Exhibition

Looking for oriental & original jackets & tops to wear for Ramadan? Then head to Audailiya, block 3, Sultan Al-Kulaib Street, House #32. Rania Al-Humaidhi is hosting an exhibition which will be open to the public from 5:00PM to 9:00PM.

So you have no excuses not to show up at your cousin's ghabga ;)

The return of the converse

When traveling, I like checking out what other fashionistas are wearing to get a feel of how trends work in other cultures. During a recent trip I was inspired by what I saw on the streets. The converse sneakers are back with a vengeance. Hollywood gave Converse sneakers a boost. Celebes including Nicole Richie, Amy Winehouse, and Kirsten Dunst have been sporting Converse.

To avoid looking like you’ve just came out from Seventeen magazine issued in the early 80’s, pair your Converse with skinny jeans, rock/icon tee and studded belt – or team them with a cute summer dress.

So time to replace your raggedy Puma’s with a pair of good ol’ converse sneakers. You can find a small collection at the Footlocker at Marina & the Avenues but most of them were high-tops, I prefer lo-top converse. Or you can shop online at Zappos.com or converse.com.

News Flash

Calling all fashionistas looking for moderately priced evening gowns. I've just received a call from Villa Moda Mubarikiya. They have got 9 new evening gowns by Marchesa. But the more affordable line which is Notte by Marchesa. So hurry before they get sold out. You can visit the following links to purchase online and view some of the collection pieces:

Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig are the British designers and masterminds behind Marchesa's beautiful collection. I love their attention to detail especially the gowns with floral details. I just wish they'd put the same quality and effort to their Notte line.

I can see through you...

Lately I've been having the chanel fever. And seeing those chanel bags gave me goosebumps. To have 2 trends in one item is such a treat. Trend number 1 (a trend that never goes out): A Chanel quilted bag. Trend number 2: Lucite and see through stuff. And let me tell you, you ain't gonna see them at Kuwait's Chanel Boutique.
Now, the question is, would you wear a see through bag and expose your inside of your bag to world? I would but it depends on where I'm going, I would wear it for shopping and make sure that my stuff are neatly packed inside and hide the controversial unnecessary stuff ;) but to work or a restaurant, I'd rather not be exposed.
Would you dare to wear this trend?

Super Hot Female

Tick-tock, tick-tock, Tick-tock, tick-tock.. La, la, la, la, la, la, la

I can't help myself, whenever I see Gwen this song is automatically played in my mind... anyways. Today I wanted to showcase how innovative Gwen Stefani is with hairstyles. The most creative celebrity who's ain't afraid of taking chances with hair. Any you know what? No matter how ridiculous and hideous that might be, she still looks super hot and she can easily pull it off.

Mini Me...

Every season for the past 4 years, and while looking for the "it" bag, My first condition was, it had to be big.. not 40" big.. but big as in "I-can-fit-MK-&-Ashley-with-some-room-for-Nicole" BIG. But lately, I'm loving the "Mini me" look. How adorable to wear you mini bag across your shoulders with your tiny mobile, some cash & plastic neatly tucked inside? And how fabulous if that mini bag was a Chanel like the golden one shown here (The bangles would be a bonus)? The key to that look is not to go overboard with your clothes. Just keep it simple chic with a pipeline cut jeans and a cropped jacket with white tank top. And Puuhleeease don't overstock the poor thing!

BYZANCE launch at Villa Moda

For those of you who are interested in unique furniture, jewelry, and apparel, Villa Moda Shuwaikh is hosting yet another event this Tuesday 22nd May at 7:00 PM. Villa Moda will be celebrating the launch of the first Arabic edition of BYZANCE magazine. The event will also showcase original furniture, jewelry, and apparel for sale carefully selected by BYZANCE. I’m not sure what’s the style of the exhibition, but I’m guessing from its name that it’s a mixture of east meets west.

My Fashion Idol... for now.

Lily Allen is my latest obsession. She's a British pop star and everyone’s favourite bad girl. I love how outspoken she is and her eclectic style.

I've read somewhere that Lily Allen might be the new face of Chanel. Chief designer at Chanel, Karl Lagerfeld, is convinced that Allen's style of blending classy with chav is set to be the look of 2007.

Lily popularised the look known as "Chav Chic" last year and has designed a range of clothes for NEW LOOK. The crowd was not as big as Moss's launch of her collection at TopShop though. but still her collection was a hit. And now you can find her at the front row at almost all fashion shows. Imagine how many freebies she gets. Sigh...

Save the Date

Your agenda's blank? Bored of going to the same places? The following is a list of fashion & lifestyle upcoming events in Kuwait:
  • "Zoraide": a collection of limited edition couture shoes designed by Paola Bay will be displayed at Villa Moda Shuwaikh on 16th May from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
  • "Cash Art" t-shirt & polo collection for men & women designed by a Kuwaiti female designer named Alia Al-Naqeeb. The collection will be exclusively shown at Villa Moda Mubarikiya from 19th to 21st of May.
  • "Reuse Exhibition", recycled furniture and houseware designed by local designers produced entirely from waste, scrap, and recycled materials to promote environmental awareness. The exhibition will be held at Sultan Gallery from 19th to 21st of May.

Saucey Aussie for H&M

Kylie Minogue has slipped into a bikini and a brightly coloured beach wrap to model H&M's new summer collection. Daaamn, she's still got what it takes, as she models the store's new Australian themed summer range. The collection will hit Kuwait's H&M store on 22nd May and it's all basically beach wear. I hope it does better than Madonna's lame H&M collection. It was such a disappointment to all madonna fans. Let's see how it goes.

On a different note, I GOT MY "I"M NOT A PLASTIC BAG" bag!! Thanks to my best friend. and Guess what? You can get the bag too at Villa Moda Al-Mubarikiya. They are selling it for KD 5 (rip offs! the bag is sold for 5 pounds in the UK). Hurry before it gets sold out. They have already shipped 50 bags to the UK as they have been getting clients from them asking them to be shipped! Good Luck. :)

The Annual Costume Institute Gala- Part II

To me, those were the best dressed ladies at the Annual Costume Institute Gala which was held last week in NY:

  1. Kelly Ripa, in Zac Posen
  2. Cameron Diaz, in Dior couture by John Galliano
  3. Queen Rania of Jordan, in Giambattista Valli.

Would you look that good in a TopShop evening gown?

Standing proud & tall in her own evening gown design for TopShop, Kate Moss looked amazingly glamorous at a not-so-casual event “The Annual Costume Institute Gala” in fabulous New York. Only Kate would pull off a TopShop dress in an event filled with the crème de la crème of the fashion industry and celebrity moguls, all dressed in couture and custom made gowns. Speaking of which, looking at their gowns, I totally fell OUT of love with the so-called “THE” Evening gown which I bought over the net for the upcoming wedding & parties I’m invited to. Click here to check out the gown and feel sorry for your closet.

The Row by Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen

Nothing can stay hidden anymore. It seems that the first pictures of Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen's new clothing line, The Row, have been released on the internet. And the price tag ain't Moss's TopShop. Apparently, some items carry a hefty price tag. Would you really pay a $3,220 for a lamb-fur coat designed by amature designers always dressed in their stable balck leggings? Not my cup of tea. The details about their collection was sooo secrative that the did not even allow journalists to attend the collection preview in Paris earlier this year. Click here for info.

This is for real!

According to The Daily Mail, Kate Moss's TopShop collection went on sale online at 4.30am, and by 7am, many of the key pieces were sold out including the red maxi dress Kate wore to launch the range. Click here to view more pictures of the event.

Topshop was to let groups of shoppers browse for 20 minutes at a time to avoid a mad scramble. And only 5 items were allowed to be purchased to avoid eBay sellers monopoly.

You can purchase some of her collection online but I have to admit, what's left now is the lousy stuff. Click here to shop online.

Did I change my mind about my previous post? no, I still think this thing is overrated.

I WANT CANDY!

To me, this is the ultimate arm candy of the season. Mulberry's collection of bags for Giles is, without a doubt, breathtakingly beautiful and glamorous. And the good news is that you can now purchase the sold out, limited edition bags at Villa Moda Mubarikiya (not the entire collection though but the cream colored bag was there). If you're looking for the clutch, you can find it at netaporter.com.
P.S: the picture is courtesy of netaporter.com. So don't sue us.

And I still haven't found what I'm looking for...

Yup fellow fashionistas.. you've guessed it. My shopping endevours for THE evenging dress of the season has successfully failed. Name any store in Kuwait which sells evening gowns.. been there.. done that. It's either over prcied, under priced, too common, too funky, winterish color, unstylish, or (the one we ALL hate) Too small... it doesn't fit :( Oh yes, and I have tried shopping online (still at it) but until now..No luck

So instead, I have decided to look for a pair of cool looking sun glasses :P Which was done in no more than 30 minutes..My latest obsessions are LINDA FARROW VINTAGE SUNGLASSES and Tom Ford's

Gals, enough with the chanel and dior sun glasses puuuhleease! and get yourself a Linda or a Tom.
